Blue Chip Canine

16 Week Private Training Program
Private training is available with or without owner participation, and both options are equally effective. This 16-week program is based off 2 sessions per week!
-
Weeks 1-2:
-
This is considered the “learning phase”. Meaning during the first 2 weeks, we will be focused on getting commands to a verbal understanding. This includes Sit, Down, Place, Recall, and Basic Leash manners. You will notice towards the end of the 2 weeks that your dog is more attentive to you, your movements, and your speech.
-
-
Weeks 3-4:
-
This is generally the point in which we will introduce distance and duration to commands. This will result in more freedom for yourself as a handler as well as patience/impulse control for the dog. You will start to notice a less “pushy” dog, with an eagerness to engage/participate in the training.
-
-
Weeks 5-6:
-
This is the point in which we will start practicing for the Rookie Obedience Test. At this point, you should notice a much more patient, attentive, and neutral dog.
-
-
Weeks 7-8:
-
Once completing and passing the Rookie Obedience Test, we will begin the process of increasing duration on commands as well as extending distance of commands. More importantly, we will also begin the process of introducing distractions. Which will be used to truly test each command.
-
-
Weeks 9-10:
-
Once the dog has proven itself at a further distance, longer duration, with distractions present, we will begin our work in town/off-property. This is called “generalization”, meaning we will go to as many different places as possible to practice everything we have done thus far in less distracting situations(in-home). This will most likely be a rough patch for most owners as it will feel as though you are starting from “scratch”. This is purely due to the fact that dogs learn through mental images. So, if all the training has been done at home, they will most likely listen best while in the home and struggle when they are not. Providing new images in these environment's will give the dog the ability to listen anywhere! As well as more confidence in scary new situtations.
-
-
Weeks 11-12:
-
After pushing through the difficulty of generalization, you will notice the more positive/structured experiences we give them, the easier it will get! At this point, we should be able to once again increase duration, distance, and distraction while in stores/public situations.
-
-
Weeks 13-14:
-
At this point, you should start to feel much more confident out in public with your pup. This is the period in which will we start to prep for the Junior Obedience Program
-
-
Weeks 15-16:
-
After passing the Junior obedience program, we will begin the process of advanced obedience. This is the point where the owner can make very specific requests. For example, if the goal is to be able to bring the dog anywhere off-leash, that is what we will work on. Or if the goal is to have a 100% reliant recall, we will focus on that. Or, if there are any complicated tricks you’d like to teach your dog, this is the point we would do this!
